Sample files: https://persephonesoft.com/data/import/Tomato.csv, https://persephonesoft.com/data/import/2tracks.xlsx

You can import markers from files in comma-separated (.csv, .txt) , tab-separated (.tsv), or Excel (.xls, .xslx) file formats, containing the following four columns:

  1. Map name
  2. Marker name
  3. Marker start coordinate
  4. (optional) Marker end coordinate; if this is missing, will be assumed to be the same as the start coordinate.
  5. (optional) Track name; specifying the track name allows you to import multiple tracks from the same file.

For example:

0,G/A,19418762
0,A/G,19418764
0,G/A,19418826
0,A/G,11865119
0,T/C,11865130
0,A/T,20030107
0,C/T,13719827
0,C/T,6426377
0,A/C,20342064
1,T/C,526657
2,T/A,2935099
2,A/T,1678697
2,G/T,21653739
2,G/A,13267965

As usual, these markers will be displayed in marker tracks on their assigned maps; for example:

Connectors for imported markers

Imported markers are automatically linked by a line connector to other markers (including other imported markers, as well as markers loaded into the main Persephone database) solely if their names are identical. By contrast, two markers in the Persephone database are connected to each other only if both their name and source organism properties are identical (that is, if they have the same internal ID).

For example, an imported marker named "C/T" will always be connected to all other markers named "C/T", regardless of source organism. However, if one "C/T" marker in the Persephone database has its source organism set to "Arabidopsis thaliana", and another "C/T" marker in the Persephone database has it set to "Oryza sativa", then the two markers will not be connected to each other.

Multiple tracks

You can specify an optional track name for each marker. For example:

Chr.1,txp279,61211720,61211445,txp
Chr.1,txp248,72032521,72032759,txp
Chr.1,txp229,62074013,62074183,txp
Chr.1,txp213,6700465,6700631,txp
Chr.1,txp208,6545722,6545979,txp
Chr.1,txp204,62101627,62101468,
Chr.1,txp149,50711252,,txp
Chr.1,txp11,53021078,53020997,txp
Chr.1,M00015,60414076,60414076,M
Chr.1,M00016,18244552,18244552,M
Chr.1,M00034,15938505,15938505,M
Chr.1,M00040,72365504,72365504,M
Chr.1,M00041,61579164,61579164,M
Chr.1,M00044,18524401,18524401,M

In this case, the file will contain three tracks: one default track for markers without a track name, and two tracks named "txp" and "M". The total number of tracks found on each map in the input file is summarized on the map assignment page:

On the next page, you can configure each imported track individually; you can also choose to skip some of the tracks from the import:

Markers without a specific track name will be imported into the default track (with the same as the input file, e.g. "2tracks.xlsx" above), and the rest will be split up into their assigned tracks:
